Inside Horizontal: Kate Higgins

Next up in our Inside Horizontal series is Kate Higgins! Kate is a Strategic Account Director at Horizontal. Kate loves being an account director at Horizontal because of our unique synergy – with experts spanning CMS, Salesforce, and Staffing- we are able to create solutions that increase value for our clients.

What is a typical day at Horizontal for you?

Is there such a thing as a typical day in sales? Every day is something new and exciting!  It is meeting lots of new people, understanding their business and connecting them with some of the best solution architects in the industry.

Tell us about your background and what led you to start working at Horizontal:

I started my career in advertising sales, selling airtime for Food Network. I met some fantastic people during my early career that ultimately put me on the path to where I am today. I then spent over a decade working for advertising agencies, in Boston and Minneapolis. Just over four years ago, I took a different path, which led me to the exciting world of Salesforce. HI was a perfect blend of an advertising agency and a Salesforce consulting partner that truly values what is best for their clients.

What industries have you focused on?

I have spanned across many industries over my career. I have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic Fortune 500 companies over the years. Financial Services has been my primary industry throughout my career. That said, I have also helped out top brands that span across Healthcare & Life Sciences, Non-Profit, as well as CPG, Retail, and Manufacturing industries.

Why you are excited to join Horizontal?

It is always about the people! At the core, Horizontal wants to see their clients succeed. It is all about having trusted relationships and being a trusted consultant; we are only as good as our people. The leaders are brilliant, empathetic and take risks, it is a perfect combination. I truly believe we have some of the top consultants in the Salesforce ecosystem. It is exciting for me to be on a team with the level of expertise we get to share with our clients.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Spending time with my husband and kids, Sophia & Jasper, is always a priority. Not to mention giving love to our three yellow labs and chickens. When I am not with the family, I enjoy photography and getting out on my paddleboard. My husband recently opened his own small business, a tattoo shop, which has been amazing for myself and the kids to see his passion come to life.

What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?

I had ‘no-fear’ when I was my younger self. I look back at that time in my life and often laugh at how fearless I was at such a young age. I want to take advice from my 20-year-old self to my 40-‘something’-year-old self…’work hard and play hard, no fear.’

If you won a million dollars, what non profit would you donate towards and why?

There are so many fabulous non-profits to support! Those that preserving our national parks and/or focus on sustainable farming is what matters most to me.
